Jarred Ervin

Introduction

Hey there! Iโ€™m Jarred Ervin, and I live in the beautiful, sun-drenched city of Phoenix, Arizona. My running journey might surprise youโ€”it wasnโ€™t a straight path. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, I was all about the outdoors, thanks to my time in the Boy Scouts. Those experiences made me love exploring, adventure, and challenging myself. Ironically, I wasnโ€™t a fan of running back then. I was the kid who faked being sick on โ€œmile dayโ€ in middle school! But after dealing with college sports injuries and the stresses of a social work job, I discovered that running was an incredible way to stay active, manage stress, and clear my mind. And the more I ran, the more I fell in love with it. I didnโ€™t start out knowing how to train properly. Like many new runners, I dove into books, blogs, and podcasts on running, nutrition, and strength training. I tried out many different programs, but I often felt burned out and frustrated. Things changed when I started working at a top-running store here in Phoenix. That job taught me the importance of proper gear, hydration, and the power of community. Finally, I decided to team up with a local Phoenix-based running coach. With personalized feedback, motivation, and accountability, I saw massive improvementsโ€”crushing my personal records (PRs) from the 5K to the 50K and even qualifying for the Boston Marathon!

Coaching Background

Today, Iโ€™m a certified Ultramarathon Run Coach through UESCA and a proud Coaches of Color recipient from the 80/20 Endurance Foundation. Iโ€™ve coached athletes to achieve PRs, tackle their first ultras, and overcome mental and physical roadblocks. My passion lies in helping runners who feel โ€œstuckโ€ by building meaningful relationships and creating customized training programs. Thereโ€™s nothing better than seeing someone hit their goals, whether itโ€™s through coaching or pacing.

Coaching Philosophy

For me, running is about more than logging miles or hitting a paceโ€”itโ€™s about the journey of self-discovery, growth, and joy. I believe in creating a training experience thatโ€™s effective, fun, and adaptable to your life. After all, if youโ€™re not enjoying the process, whatโ€™s the point? My approach is all about meeting you where you are. Whether youโ€™re a seasoned marathoner, a trail lover, or someone lacing up for the first time, Iโ€™ll design a plan that fits your goals, lifestyle, and preferences. I donโ€™t believe in one-size-fits-all coaching. Instead, I focus on personalized attention, encouragement, and flexibility. Community and connection are huge for me. I want my runners to feel seen, supported, and valued. I strive to create an environment where everyone can thrive regardless of their pace or experience. Running should be a space where you feel like you belong, and I work hard to promote a culture of positivity and inclusivity. I also emphasize balance and sustainability. Staying healthy, both mentally and physically, is essential for long-term success. Together, weโ€™ll find a way to balance running with your daily life, ensuring it enhances your well-being instead of adding stress. In the end, I want you to not only achieve your running goals but also fall in love with the journey. Iโ€™m here to help you discover how strong, capable, and impressive you areโ€”one run at a time.
